Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)—Part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economics and Statistics Administration
The site has information on national, international and regional economic data and articles. The mission of BEA is to produce and disseminate accurate, timely, relevant and cost-effective economic statistics that provide government, businesses, households and individuals with a comprehensive, up-to-date picture of economic activity.

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)—Part of the U.S. Department of Labor
The site has statistics and information on areas of employment and unemployment, prices and living conditions, compensation and living conditions, productivity and technology, employment projections, international programs and more.

Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI)—Small Employer Retirement Survey
The survey explores the reasons why some small employers do not offer a retirement plan and what changes would lead them to do so. Among small employers that do offer a retirement plan, the survey explores the types of plans they offer and their motivations in offering these plans. The findings are presented in a special report devoted to small business issues.

Government Information Xchange (GIX)—Search Engine with Links to Federal Government Information Sources
GIX specializes in direct linking and searching the Internet to locate information that has been posted by and for government agencies. A related program, the Federal Information Center (FIC), specializes in direct telephone assistance to callers who are trying to locate information in any format on federal agencies, programs and services.

Library of Congress—Business Reference Services
A starting point for conducting research in the areas of business and economics. Supported by a reference collection of over 20,000 volumes, a network of CD-ROM services and the Adams Building Computer Catalog Center, reference specialists in specific subject areas of business assist the patron in formulating search strategies and gaining access to the information and materials contained in the library's rich collections.

Simplified Tax and Wage Reporting System (STAWRS)
The site provides information for business owners on federal wage reporting and tax withholding requirements. Included are the requirements related to hiring employees, periodic reporting requirements, downloadable forms and publications, electronic services and links to other helpful websites.

U.S. Business Advisor—Access to Federal Government Information and Services
The U.S. Business Advisor was created by the Small Business Administration (SBA), the National Partnership for Reinventing Government (NPR) and the U.S. Business Advisor interagency task force. The site includes sections on business development, financial assistance, taxes, laws and regulations, workplace issues and more.

U.S. Census Bureau—1997 Economic Census
The Economic Census profiles the U.S. economy every five years. The census covers nearly all of the U.S. economy in its basic collection of establishment statistics. There also are several related programs, including statistics on minority- and women-owned businesses.

U.S. Department of Labor—Small Business Retirement Savings Advisor
The Advisor will guide you through a series of questions to help you determine the best retirement plan for your business. This interactive tool gives you a comprehensive look at features and advantages of various pension plans. The Advisor was developed by the Department of Labor's Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration. White House - Economic Statistics Briefing Room -Employment, Unemployment and Earnings Information
The purpose of this service is to provide easy access to current federal economic indicators. It provides links to information produced by a number of federal agencies. All of the information included in the Economic Statistics Briefing Room is maintained and updated by the statistical units of the relevant agencies. All the estimates for the indicators presented are the most current values available.
